I think everyone who has read my blog for a while will know that Autumn is my favourite time of year! I just love it. I wrote about reasons why I love Autumn in another blog post.
Today we decided we were going to go for an Autumnal walk through the woods. The woods is about a 5 minute (or less!) walk from our house so it's really convenient and an absolutely beautiful place! the kids just love climbing the trees (such a shame about the graffiti though!), we also came across a couple of rop swings which someone has tied to the trees! I remember when I was a kid and playing in these same woods. It's truly amazing to create new memories with my own children!
It wasn't really cold enough for a coat but light jackets and woolly jumpers were needed as it was quite chilly!
The sun actually made an appearance and made the woodland look so pretty! Ellie was all "It's so beautiful. I wish the weather was like this ALLLLL the time!" Bless her.
This tree is very, very old. One of the oldest tree's in Europe I do believe. It's absolutely beautiful, even though it's been struck by lightening more than a few times and has a whole history which is a blog post in itself! (I'll write about it one day). The kids love to climb it and it's a favourite with all the locals. My brothers, sisters and myself use to climb this tree when we were children! It hasn't changed a bit.
There's also some kind of mushroom/fungi growing around the bottom of the tree. We were careful not to touch it.
We also spotted lots of signs of Autumn. Mushrooms, toadstools and lots of leaves and acorns
We had a lovely evening walk! I can't wait to go again. Maybe next time we'll find some leaves and leaf piles to jump in and throw around as that's also great fun!
