We also sprayed them with edible silver shimmer spray (left over from Christmas!) which gave them a metallic look.We're really pleased with how they turned out! And just by using (mostly) things that were left over from other baking projects!

I honestly can't believe it's December, let alone the fact, it's almost Christmas. Where has this year gone?! I have been really, really busy the last couple of weeks. I've had a lot going on in my personal life and of course the build up to Christmas, having three kids means there is A LOT to do! I've enjoyed there Christmas nativity plays and Christmas carols the past week. They all did fabulously. I am very proud of them all. They all enjoyed there Christmas plays, carols, Christmas parties at school, discos and pantomime trips! Now we can relax and enjoy Christmas!



Last week, Ellie was involved in a flash mob.
We took her to a local shopping centre, where she joined her school teachers and school friends! They danced there little socks off! It was SO cool! They all knew when it was time for them to begin and they all knew exactly what they had to do, it was really, really good.
We had great fun watching the flash mob. After the dancing had finished we got a cold drink and the little's had a play on the pirate park.

We've also had lots of fun baking Christmasy themed cup cakes! We made snow men faces and polar bears. We also made some really colourful cupcakes, the little's LOVE baking a lot!

I think we're almost set for Christmas now. Almost. I just need to buy the fresh fruit and veggies for the holiday season! I'm done buying presents but still have some wrapping to do. I've figured out our Christmas meal plan and I've baked some cakes. If I have time I'd like to bake some Christmas cookies but we shall see.

Did you know it's national baking weekfrom 13th - 19th October? I didn't know that until this morning to be fair.

Anyway.

We made Halloween cupcakes on Sunday! I know it's a little early to make Halloween cakes but you know? Cake is cake and we love cake. I had so many Halloween cake decorations left over from last year, I thought I would use them up before opening the new cake decorations.

I used my good old cupcake recipe that I posted here. Only, instead of using vanilla falvouring, I used caramel (because I had no vanilla), the kids REALLY loved the caramel flavoured cupcakes!


I also had a lot of other cupcake decorations to use up, so we made some random ones, too!



We're going to be doing some more Halloween and Autumn baking over the next couple of weeks. I love baking at this time of year and to be honest, I really need to get back into baking.

Ingredients:
200g crushed corn flakes
200g milk chocolate
Mini eggs/sweets for decorating.
Cupcakes cases.

First of all we broke the chocolate up, put it in a glass bowl and I melted it over a boiling pan of water.
(you can also melt chocolate in the microwave)
Once the chocolate had melted we left it for a few minutes while we crushed the cornflakes.
We put the cornflakes in a freezer bag and crushed them using a rolling pin.
We then added the cornflakes to the melted chocolate and stirred them in.
Then we filled the cupcake cases half way with the chocolate/cornflake mixture & added the mini eggs.
We then left them on the side to set for a couple of hours.

The other day I picked up a Valentines gingerbread biscuit set in Morrisons for £1.50 (ish. Can't remember the exact price but they were under £2). Containing four nice sized gingerbread hearts. A small pack of sprinkles and a pink icing pen.
Perfect for the kids!




The kids couldn't wait to start decorating them. And eating them, too! Yummy. We already had a good selection of sprinkles and icing pens left over from last time we did some baking and decorated digestive biscuits. The kids used the icing pen first and then added on the sprinkles/decorations of there choice onto there biscuits. Ellie liked the heart shaped ones best. Charlie loved the little silver and pink sugar balls and Harry wanted a bit of everything on his, lol.

When the kids had finished, they shook there biccies over there plates so that all the lose sprinkles fell off.
The little's really enjoyed decorating and then eating these! I think it's a lovely little activity and treat. It's cheap, too!

Me and the kids made 'slime green cakes' for Halloween. I used this recipe and just added green food colouring & Halloween decorations! They are the kids own creations, the decorated them entirely themselves!

Ugh, this weather sucks!! It's pouring down with rain today, it's cold, it's dull and just miserable.
The kids are bored so I decided to dig out the good ol'e bored games.

Bingo is our family favourite game. Although Harry didn't want to play today... Apparently it's for babies lol. Charlie and Ellie wanted to play though.


Charlie won one game and Ellie won a game, too! I lost both times, lol, typical =p.
And then when Charlie had enough of playing bingo, Ellie decided to play bingo with her fruit and vegie friends, lol! Bless her! Ahhh, what I would do to be her age again, lol. What are your favourite board games?


After we'd played bingo, we had lovely home made cheese & potato pie with sausages for tea (I had to tweak my meal plan a bit this week because I forgot about parents evening and visitors visiting). And now me and the kids are baking a fruit berry (strawberries, raspberries and blackberries) crumble. Yummy! Tomorrow, my nan and granddad are visiting and Friday is Ellie's Halloween school disco, she is very excited! So we have a busy couple of days :-)

Me and my children love decorating biscuits! We either use digestives or rich tea biscuits for this. It's easy & fun. It's quite cheap as well (especially if you already have the decorations in the cupboard, hehe). The kids really enjoy decorating there own biscuits. (So do I, lol)

What we use:

• All kinds of sprinkles/hundreds and thousands, cupcake decorations, you can also use sweets or anything else that will stick to the biscuits)
• Digestive biscuits (or rich tea) 
• Icing pens. Or icing 

We decorated our digestives using the icing pens first (you can use icing if you prefer). Ellie decided she was going to write her name on her biscuit.

And then we added our decorations. The decorations stick really easy to the icing. Ellie liked the silver balls best :)
We sprinkled on lots of hundreds and thousands, sprinkles and sugar flowers. Yummy.

I apologise for lack of updating my blog this week. The end of the school year is coming up and things are MANIC. Well and truly busy! School discos, parties, appointments with teachers, baking cakes for school competitions (Alice in wonderland themed! I am NOT a baker, I suck at baking cakes lol. Different coloured cupcakes with flowers and maybe 'Alice in wonderland' or 'Mad Hatter' wrote on with icing pens, is ok though, yes?? Seriously I am lacking time, lol!), the usual chores, grocery shopping, laundry (Is it just me that seems to be constantly washing, hanging and folding clothes?!) the list is endless and I can't even think straight. I am SO tired. 

Roll on the end of half term. 

On a better note, the kids are so, so looking forward to there discos and end of term parties. Not to mention games day. They can't decide which board games they want to take in! They're also allowed to take in there favourite DVD. Ellie is so looking forward to her school disco. She gets to join the year ones in there disco session! So grown up. Both boys are pleased with the teachers that'll be teaching them in September. Yet to find out who'll be teaching Ellie though. 

there school reports are wonderful! I am SO proud of them all. They all have excellent reports (and attendance). I'm really excited for them. The last week at school is always fun and I know they're gonna have blast.

I can not believe how fast this last year has gone. This time last year Ellie was getting ready to go up to primary school and Charlie getting ready to join the junior school, Harry was looking forward to being in year four. It's mad that I'm going to be a mum of a year 1, year 4 and year 5 children. HOW did that even happen?! Lol. Time flies when your having fun... or rather just being a mum. 

Roll on the end of term. I am looking forward to chillaxing days with the kiddos in the sunshine :D

Gosh. I am having on of *those* days today. My hot water wasn't working this morning, apparently it's fixed now. And I do have running water again. However, I am not convinced the hot water is actually fixed. My heating is now turning itself on & off. The lumber will have to come back in the week and get it all fixed, he said an electrician is also needed, thank goodness I don't have to pay for the repairs as I am a council tenant. What a kurfuffle though.
Also couldn't get the laptop to charge today, turned out it was a dodgy plug socket. I will be getting the electrician to fix that, too.

Okay, enough of my moaning now. The boys are at school. It's my middle sons sports day tomorrow, I am really excited as is he. I hope it doesn't rain, the forecast looks ok for tomorrow so fingers crossed. Also have parents evening for my daughter tomorrow. Well, my appointment is 1pm so it's more like parents afternoon, lol. I can't wait to see the work she has been doing at nursery! Eee. I still can not believe she will be starting primary school in September! Madness. Wednesday is my eldest sons sports day. I'm excited about that, too although it is suppose to rain so we'll see what happens.
In amongst all of that I need to fit in grocery shopping. Fun times, lol.

The other day me and Ellie decorated ginger bread men. I brought one of those ready made ginger bread kits so all we had to do was decorate the ginger bread men. I think they were around £2. Well worth the money. We had such great fun decorating those and they were yummy, too! I'm going to attempt cup cakes sometime this week (when I have time), I'm sure the kids will enjoy helping. Wish me luck, I am not so great at baking!! Last time I baked the cakes didn't rise... yeah... wasn't good. Here's a pic of Ellies ginger bread man she decorated and then gave to me. Yummy!
