I thought I'd put together a list of things to do with your family this spring!

Make Easter baskets. We had such fun doing this last year and then we had a mini Easter egg hunt in the back garden, the kids loved hunting for the eggs in the grass and putting them there baskets that they made themselves! Such good fun. It's also easy, cheap & fun!

Go to a museum. We were lucky enough to go to Liverpool last year. We visited the world museum, it was FREE entry! We were in the museum a good couple of hours. Because it was free entry, the kids were able to get a souvenir in the gift shop! It was a fab day out, cheap and really, really good fun! We all had a wonderful time and were shattered at the end of the day. Some museums are free entry. Make sure you check before you go.

Go on a bug hunt! This is totally free! My little ones love looking around the garden for insects. Especially in the spring! We've found woodlouse, ants and lots of other fascinating insects in the past. Charlie even found a slow worm. Pretty amazing!!

Go for a walk! We love going on walks and seeing what we can spot! Ellie likes finding and spotting different flowers. The kids always burn off lots of energy! You could take a picnic, too! Make a day of it. We came across a meadow that we never even knew existed (it's well hidden) and it's only a ten minute walk from our house. Amazing.It's free and fun, too. You could even have a bug hunt on your walk!

Board Games! If the weather isn't very good (Spring can be quite wet at times, especially in April.) why not dig out those board games! Of course, you can do this any time of year and it doesn't need to be raining for board games fun. Why not play them in the garden if the weather is nice. Another fun, free activity for the whole family :)

Make something from a cardboard box. We're gonna see if we can get a big enough cardboard box to make a house or a car. I remember doing this when I was a kid. I had great fun painting & decorating my "house". The box was HUGE! I had hours of fin playing with it. I can't wait to do it with my little ones.

Baking! Spring and Easter is a great time to do some baking! We made some Easter bark last year! Yummy! It's SO easy! It doesn't cost a lot either :)

The other day I picked up a Valentines gingerbread biscuit set in Morrisons for £1.50 (ish. Can't remember the exact price but they were under £2). Containing four nice sized gingerbread hearts. A small pack of sprinkles and a pink icing pen.
Perfect for the kids!




The kids couldn't wait to start decorating them. And eating them, too! Yummy. We already had a good selection of sprinkles and icing pens left over from last time we did some baking and decorated digestive biscuits. The kids used the icing pen first and then added on the sprinkles/decorations of there choice onto there biscuits. Ellie liked the heart shaped ones best. Charlie loved the little silver and pink sugar balls and Harry wanted a bit of everything on his, lol.

When the kids had finished, they shook there biccies over there plates so that all the lose sprinkles fell off.
The little's really enjoyed decorating and then eating these! I think it's a lovely little activity and treat. It's cheap, too!

Is it just me that hasn't put the Christmas tree up yet? Lol. I would be tempted to put mine up but I don't have one yet lol.
Anyway I thought I would share some tips on saving on Christmas decorations...

Decorating for Christmas can be a bit expensive. Especially if the cat ruined all your baubles last year (like mine did, along with the Christmas tree.). It really doesn't have to be expensive though. I've picked up some really great bargains this year! I can't afford to spend a bomb on baubles. Especially as I have another kitten (and an adult cat) who is likely to pull the baubles off and probably climb the tree causing it to topple over, so it really isn't worth spending a small fortune on decorations that risk the possibility of ending up broke. (Ha! I know what to expect this year!!)


I walk past our local charity shop every day while picking the kiddos up from school. There Christmas display in the shop window looks so inviting. I went in to check it out and came out with this:


I paid £2.50 for ALL of that! It's half a box full of baubles and other random things to put on the tree (I love the little gold angels). I went in two different days though, they had different things in both days, yay. As you can see, some of them haven't even been used, they've still got the tags on and are in the wrapper! Awesome. I know people can be a bit 'funny' about buying things from charity shops but things like Christmas decorations - who can tell they're even from a charity shop?! It's a win, win -I've got a bargain and the charity has some money for the cat rescue centre.
Plus, I already have a few things left from last year that managed to escape the cat. And I've picked up a few other cute things over the past few weeks, just here and there...


I suppose I've spent roughly £10, or just under! Not bad huh? I love the owls so much. I already have Christmas tree lights and lots of tinsel from last year. We're so excited for Christmas!!

I also found our Christmas stencils, some fake snow spray and window stickers in our Christmas box. All can be picked up cheap from the pound shop. You can also try making your own Christmas tree decorations. There are lots of ideas on pinterest that are really easy, cheap and great fun, too! We made some salt dough ornaments last year. Also buying Christmas decorations etc in the sales AFTER Christmas ready for the next year is a good way to save money on decorating for Christmas! :)

Now I just need a Christmas tree.. and how to keep the cats away from the tree, hmm.

We're doing well with our Autumn bucket list  so far. That's three or four things done already, yay!
 Today Ellie & I decided we were going to do some painting and gluing while the boys were at there dads. It didn't cost us anything to do either, we already had the paints, glue etc. Kids poster paints are really cheap! I got ours from the range a longgg time ago, some the kids have got for Christmas and Birthday gifts and some other bits and bobs I've picked up from the 99p store and other places over a year or so. And of course, leaves that have fell off tree's are indeed free. It was great fun leaf hunting.

Ellie wanted to paint her own tree. And stick some leaves on paper. We collected the leaves yesterday, brought them home and dried them out over night so that they'd be nice and dry for our art work today.

I am seriously crazy about owls. I've always, always loved owls. Ellie, my six year old daughter is also crazy about owls. We are just an 'owl crazy' household, lol.
Today I had to pop into Tesco to pick up a few bits and bobs that we needed. I always check out the sales while I'm in there to see if I can find any bargains! Today I found this:
It was suppose to be £10 reduced to £5! Talk about bargain! I actually saw this top last week and thought about buying it but for £10 on a t.shirt just wasn't worth it because it's almost winter and I wouldn't wear it much (not to mention I always feel so guilty for spending money on myself!) But £5 was a bargain so I snapped it up!! I got it in the next size up (I'm a size 10 but I went for a size 12) because I hate wearing t.shirts that are too tight, plus I can wear a white vest top under this top. I'm well chuffed with it. They also had owl PJ bottoms but they didn't have my size. I was devastated, haha. Maybe next time....

1) Autumn Art - We love arts and crafts and Autumn is such a fun time to do that! Things like

• Leaf art. When you go out for a walk, look out for some different size leaves in different colours. Take them home, dip them in some paint (reds, browns, yellows etc) and print them onto some plain paper. Awesome!! 
• Decorate pine cones. Again, when you're out and about this Autumn look out for some pine cones. You could paint them all different Autumn colours. Or decorate them into Christmas tree's by painting them green and adding on little dots of colour (to represent lights/baubles etc), they make lovely home made Christmas ornaments. You could even tie on some ribbon or string and hang them on the Christmas tree. 
• Paint, colour and/or draw a fall picture using Autumn colours such as reds, yellows, orange and brown. 
• Sticking and gluing leaves etc - Stick some leaves and twigs to a piece of card (we use the back of a cereal box) and make an autumn picture. Such fun ;D My kiddies like to make "bonfire" and "firework" pictures. 

2) Splash in the puddles. This is one of my favourite things to do with the kids! They love it, too! You're never too old to splash in the puddles, hehe.

3) Go blackberry or apple picking. And make something with the fruit you pick. Crumble is a big favourite. Yummy, blackberry crumble. Mmmm. Get the kids involved, too!

4) Pumpkins - Yay! It's pumpkin season. Ha! We loveeee pumpkins. We love carving them and we really love decorating them, too! The kids usually draw a scary face and then get me to carve. Last year we carved a cat pumpkin. They also really like painting and drawing funny pictures on pumpkins. Great fun!

5) Go for a nice Autumn walk - See how many animals/wildlife you can spot! We spotted a squirrel the other day & a huge big spider spinning a rather large web (eek!) It's also a good time of year for a bug hunt because there are lots of insects around...

I really do love this time of year. I love the colours and the smells! We've made an Autumn bucket list.What do  you like most about Autumn?

So I have a child free weekend and so far I have - had a few glasses of wine last night. Got up this morning (at 6am! My body no longer knows how to sleep past 6am lol), felt like utter rubbish (darn hangover!) but I didn't let that stop me... Off I went to a carboot sale, I got LOST season 1-4 on DVD for a tenner in total! Not bad, not bad at all! It was lovely walking around without having to keep stopping 97468 times and no interruptions, no whinging that legs are aching or wanting just about everything in site from the children. But my goodness, I felt lost without them with me by my side! I miss them SO much. 

 After the car boot, I popped into Morrisons and picked up some bits and bobs that we needed... oh and the items to have a curry a for dinner (Ha! I won't even have to share it with the kids! I won't have to rush my meal or be interrupted while eating.. I'm not sure if I know how to eat slowly any more LOL. Am I the only mummy that eats as quick as possible because there's 39057 other things to be doing & of course, eating before the kids pinch whatever off my plate, lol)

I came home, had a two hour nap (which was lush btw!) and now here I am. I tell you what though, I am BORED. It's so boring without the kids here. I am so enjoying the peace and quiet. I am so staying up late so that I sleep in tomorrow! 
The kiddos will be back tomorrow after lunch. I can't wait to see them :)
