Well, we are over half way through November already! This year has gone SO fast, I honestly can't believe it. It doesn't feel like a year ago that I was planning last Christmas and now it's time to start planning for THIS Christmas. Craziness! Anyway, I thought I'd write a 'Life Lately' post.
I don't know why but it feels like November has been a really stressful month for me. I think with having the brain condition I suffer with (IIH) flare up and just everyday life, it's been hectic and hard. I've been suffering with numbness, feeling sick and headaches for pretty much most of November - All due to my brain condition. My medication has been increased so that's helped a bit. It seems to have settled down now though (I hope I haven't jinxed myself!) and I've even started working out again. I'd like to loose 10lbs before Christmas but that might be a little ambitious. We'll see how I go and it really depends on how my head is.
The kids are all doing fantastic. They're all doing really well in school. I had Ellie's parents evening last week and she's doing AMAZING! I am so very proud of her. We're working on division and reading at home. She's a really good reader and quite a fast paced reader like me, hehe. Bless her.
I'm waiting to hear about when the boys parents evenings will be, I dare say they'll be soon! I am looking forward to seeing how well the boys are both doing. I think Charlie has got the hang of high school now, with lots of help from his big brother. I'm very proud of them both.
This up coming week I am hoping to do some Christmas shopping and get a big chunk of it done next week, all going well. I need to come up with some ideas for Harry, he's thirteen years old and so hard to buy for, he's so fussy with clothes, too! I also need to fish my Christmas tree out of the shed and bring that inside (I'm not putting it up anytime soon though! My cats will destroy it).

Well, this week has certainly been full of ups and downs, smiles and frowns but I think there's been more smiles than anything else.
1) It was my boys parents evening a couple of days ago. H got VERY good grades and is number 1 for effort! I am *so* pleased. He's one of the best behaved students in his class, he listens, he knuckles down and gets on with his work, he's helpful and he doesn't let anyone distract him. He's average for most subjects, a little above for reading (He loves reading just as much as I do!). C's teacher said pretty much the same about him, we need to work on improving his handwriting though! We had the same problem with H's handwriting last year but he's really improved and actually really neat now so I know we'll get there with Charlie. Might try and find some handwriting sheets to help.
2) My daughter (she's 5) had her friend stay over last weekend for the night (she's my best friends little girl btw), they had such a good time! It was really lovely for her to have a little girl to play dolls with (rather than boys who refuse to play dolls! Lol), she watched a DVD and then it was lights off, sleep time! They went to sleep straight away! They get along really well! The next day we painted nails (well, I painted there nails, lol) and did some games and what not, it was great fun!
3) We are not suppose to get any more snow (in the near future any way) so hopefully that's it. I still can not believe it's snowing. In March. Eek. I really can not wait for the warm weather - spring, followed by summer. I want to start planting my flowers and seeds but can't until the weather picks up a bit. Oh, I can't wait!
4) REALLY looking forward to comic relief, I love watching that on T.V. The kids have none uniform Friday or rather a 'wear red day' They donate £1 each (plus we have lots of 1ps and 2ps to donate, there's probably around £5ish worth) Are you doing anything for comic relief?

Ellie started in year 4 this past September and not even two weeks later, she turned nine years old which makes her the eldest child in her school year. This new school term also marked the year that Ellie would be my only child at primary school. My eldest is in year 8 and my other son started in year 7 in September. I was a little worried about it to be honest because Ellie has always had her big brothers to look out for her and I think that reassured her. I needn't have worried though because Ellie settled into year 4 just fine. She went up a class and has the same teacher that Charlie had last year (and the year before! And even Harry had the year before, too!) which was also reassuring for her and also for me, too!
Tonight I had parents evening! I always look forward to parents evenings because I like to hear about how my children are doing at school, looking through there school books and seeing there progress!

It's been a hectic week or so. I'll start with the worst moments.
So those are our best and worst moments from the last week or two. What have been your best and worst moments? what's been the highlight for you?

- The kids and I have been sick. Again. Some kind of tummy bug. I got a phone call from the school last Thursday from the school asking me to pick Ellie up as she was unwell and had been sick at school. Bless her. From there, we ALL came down with it over the space of the weekend! It was awful. Thankfully we're better now.
- I managed to burn myself on the oven while taking out the pasta bake! It's really sore and quite large. I've put burn cream on. I'm sure it'll heal soon.
- I've also had a bad headache on and off.. Its the brain disease playing up. My vision also hasn't been great.
- Stressing about money. Again. Money sucks. There's so much I want to do in those house but I just don't have the funds. I need to save, save, save!

- My Birthday was last Tuesday. I didn't really do much but I did receive some lovely presents and cards. I saw my family and fella too! I love the new bag the kids got me and also my lovely little light box with letters that can be changed! My mum bought me some new PJs - I LOVE PJ's, I have an obsession! I also received some very lovely other its including a fitness band to track my steps & sleep, a new pair of trainers ready for when I start jogging again, some photography stuff (which is just a hobby! I'm kind of teaching myself). I'm very thankful for my presents :)

- I also enjoyed a really nice mothers day with the kids. In the afternoon a bunch of flowers were delivered for me, awww. ♥ I love them. (These are mixed in with flowers I received for my Birthday!) I feel truly blessed & very lucky.
- The kids parents evenings went very well! Charlie & Ellie are both doing great. I am super proud of them. I'm sure I'll have Harry's parents evening soon!
- World book day was a success (minus Ellie coming down poorly). Charlie and Ellie's school had a pirate theme. They love dressing up!
- Charlie passed his level 2 bikability at school which is awesome! Very proud of him.

This week has been a busy one! And full of proud mummy moments.
Monday I had Charlie's parents evening. I'm really pleased to say he is doing superb about school and preparing for the SATS which are coming up next term. He's also preparing for high school, too. He's doing brilliant in English, Maths and Science. He enjoys arts and reading, too. He's so good at cursive hand writing and knows up to his 14 times table! He's better at maths than I am (I'm not even kidding!). All our practicing at home has paid off. Charlie has just completed his level 2 bikeability course at school. It's where professional (instructors?) go into the school and take the kids out on there bikes and prepare them for cycling on the road and teach them how to be safe on there bikes etc. I believe only year 5 & 6 take part. Charlie passed that. With flying colours, as I knew he would. He's more confident riding his bike now. He very proudly showed me his certificate and badge to say he'd passed!
I am VERY proud of him.
Ellie's parents evening was Tuesday. Again, she is doing great in all subjects, her reading is advanced for her age (She's trying to get through her current book (which has 56 pages), so she can start reading goosebumps!) We DO need to work on her counting past 100 in tens, which I know she can do but I just don't think she's interested, still though, we will work out that. Also sounding out long words she seems to rush and pronounces the word wrong but if she takes her time, she can do it. She is only eight years old though, I'm not at all worried because I know she'll get there :)
She received a certificate for helping people and being very friendly. She left her certificate at school though. She was going to bring it home today but she's been ever so poorly and didn't go to school today.
I'm VERY proud of her, too!
It was also world book day on Thursday. The theme was 'Pirates' so both Charlie & Ellie dressed up as pirates. Charlie was like "This eye patch irritates my eye, I AM NOT WEARING IT" And "It makes my eyes itch"Bless him. And Ellie was like "I LOVE my pirate on my shoulder" haha. They were very excited though! And excited for the fun activity afternoon. Poor Ellie was poorly at school in the afternoon though and I got the call asking me to come collect her, which I didn't mind at all but I felt so bad for her and her missing out on all the book day fun. Never mind. At least she was alright for the morning! Charlie had a fantastic day. I can't believe it's his last year dressing up at primary school. Madness how fast the time goes!

This past week, the week before half term has been a busy one! It's been full of parents evening, rugby matches at school and meet the tutor appointments!
Firstly, I had an appointment with Ellie's teacher to hear about her progress and how she's doing at school! Now, it did take her sometime to settle into her new school but I am really pleased to say she has settled in really well now and is really knuckling down with her school work! Her hand writing has improved tremendously as has her reading. She's doing well in all subjects and we're currently working on her 4 and 5 times tables at home. She has some maths homework to do this half term, which will keep her busy.
I am so, so proud of how well she's doing at school, especially with her reading. She is really trying to do her best, bless her.
Next I saw Charlie's teacher. As most of my regular readers are aware, it's his final year at primary school (I know, I can't believe it either). So it's an important year for him, getting ready and prepared for high school. I wrote about how we went to look around the high school and how excited Charlie is about starting there next September!
His hand writing has also improved a lot and he is doing so well in all subjects and has come top of the class on a couple of occasions, mainly for maths. He can use number squares and really quite confident with school work! Which of course I am super proud about. He's really working hard and doing his absolute best. Charlie joined in with a Rugby tag thing at school, which he did really well with and got a certificate for, bless him. He can't wait to do it again and is hoping to join the rugby team soon.
One day after school, I met Harry's tutor! She seems really lovely and had lots of good things to say about Harry. She asked if he's enjoying school, which he is of course. She asked how he's settling in and if he had any questions. He didn't. I chat with her about how Harry is settling in and she told me he's made lots of friends and is polite and helpful (If only he was like that at home, haha). He was really proud to show me around the library, where we met his tutor. And I met a couple of his friends that he's made since he started high school. I am also really proud of him. He doesn't like change but he has adapted so, so well. I can't wait for his parents evening, which I believe is next month.
Harry has also been picked for the rugby team. Which, honestly, I was quite surprised about because he has never really shown much interest in rugby before. Football, yes. Rugby no. I was a little apprehensive and wondered if it would be something he would stick at. He had his first practice match this past week and he played really well. He seemed to really enjoy it and already has another match set up for next month! Harry is super excited about it.I was really proud standing on the side line, supporting Harry and his team in rugby. Since we have moved house and the kids have obviously moved schools, too! They are all doing really well.
Anyway, the kids have only been at there new school since just after Easter. Aww, I remember when I was at school, I use to love writing in fountain pen. =)
I can not believe how well Ellie's reading has come along since April, she has done AMAZING with her reading and it in fact, quite the little book worm (She takes after me, hehe). She's now reading 'hard' books (as she calls them) and she reads them so, so well! She's also been reading some children's books from the kindle which she really enjoys. I love listening to her read, there's something therapeutic about listening to children read, don't you think?
The boys are of course doing well! They love to read, too! Harrys been on about wanting to read 'The Hunger Games' but I still think he's a little young (not quite twelve!) for that. He's currently reading a goosebumps book! Who remember's those?! They were one of my favourite series to read and there are soooo many of them.
Charlie's busy reading some monster story or another, he does like his monster books! He's quite a fast reader, once he gets into a book he enjoys, he seems to really enjoy it.
Overall, the kids are doing wonderfully. We're going to keep reading and practising times tables at home. The kids are super excited for the six weeks holiday which is (very) fast approaching. I am also looking forward to the break from the school routine and enjoying the summer with the little's. Harry is excited about starting high school in September. I still can't quite fathom the fact that my eldest is going to be going to high school! How fast they grow and quick time goes.

I''ve had a headache pretty much all weekend. Actually since Friday morning. It's driving me crazy. Although, I think I do deal with the headaches a lot better than I did a year ago. I don't think people realise how hard it is to sometimes "just get on with it", at least not when the headache is REALLY bad! At least it hasn't been *that* bad, thankfully *touch wood*. It is a bearable dull ache behind my eyes (it's hard to explain), just annoying more than anything. Especially when I feel constantly sick with it sometimes, ugh. I have an appointment next month with the eye consultant. I wonder if the pressure behind my eyes has built up again? I really hope not. Especially right on top of Christmas. know a lot of it is because I find it hard to sleep at night. I suffer
with insomnia I guess. I'll be mentioning all of this to my GP when I
see him next. Am lucky to have a really good G.P. I also need to start eating better again.
Last time I quit eating junk food for a few weeks, I felt SO much better
in myself! It's amazing that changing something as small as that can
really make a difference.
Speaking of Christmas, I am really hoping to start my Christmas shopping this week.. just a few small presents for the kids maybe. I'm going to sit down and write a list tomorrow. A list of what I need to get. Which is basically everything. I am so unorganised and money has been really tight. However, I am budgeting better now. And I have been entering competitions like a crazy woman lol, you know, to help out with Xmas. Anything I win would be a bonus! :-)
