Last week, my middle son Charlie turned eleven years old. I can't quite believe it myself if I'm honest. I'm still in denial that Charlie is eleven years old. He'll be starting high school in September. My eldest son, Harry will be in year eight so at least Charlie has his big brother already there to help during those first couple of weeks. Still though, it doesn't seem possible that he'll be starting high school. I'm still getting over the fact that Harry started high school last September! Madness! It's also crazy that my daughter -My youngest child- will be starting in year FOUR!
Charlie's birthday came and went in a blur.



Charlie had his induction days at high school last week. On Monday he caught the bus with Harry and caught the bus home, too! Charlie had a fantastic time and actually can not wait to start! Tuesday was his second induction day, the teacher were on strike but Charlie still had his induction day (which is a bit weird if you ask me!) Harry wasn't at school Tuesday so it was just Charlie on his own, I must admit I was a bit anxious. Charlie however, was not at all anxious. He got a lift to and from school and honestly, he did SO well! He is so, so ready for high school (even if I'm not ready for him to be going up!). I am so proud of him.



A few days later was Charlie's birthday .
Charlie's birthday went by fast! Before school, he opened some presents and had his favourite pancakes for breakfast! It was a busy day as I had open afternoon at the primary school, a chance to go into the school and work with Charlie and Ellie. It was a fun afternoon. I looked over Ellie and Charlie's work, learned about the topics they've been studying and also got to hear a couple of sneak peak songs from Charlie's end of year play. The school assembly was also very good! Charlie got to do a bit of acting, he's so confident! Ellie was super proud to show me her work and we made a bumble bee from pine cones, together! It was a really fun afternoon and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to go. The rest of Charlie's birthday was great fun! Charlie opened his the rest of his presents, which he loved. Some of my family popped in to see Charlie and wish him a happy Birthday, which was really lovely. We had a lovely dinner and then /charlie played with his friends and on his new scooter. It was a fab Birthday overall, he had a wonderful time and was absolutely shattered by the time bedtime rolled around.


We have a busy couple of week coming up with the end of term activities, family picnic, assemblies, leaving dos and what not. I am really looking forward to the summer holidays and having a break from the school routine and I know the kids are, too! :)

I decided I'd write a post on all the good things and all the bad things of September. It's been a bit of a chaotic month to be honest with you. I do try to keep my blog positive and I know the positives will out weight the negatives! I've seen a lot of people write 'Best & Worst' posts and it's inspired me to do the same.


We started off September with the kids going back to school. Ellie starting in year 3, Charlie in year 6 -his final year of primary school- (Still can't believe that!) and Harry of course started high school! They are growing up SO fast! I can't express how proud of them I am. I truly am so, so proud. I'm really pleased to say they have settled in wonderfully. They are all doing wonderful at school (touch wood) and Harry is enjoying high school, although he isn't a fan of the early mornings! Who is though?



September was also the month that Ellie turned EIGHT years old. My youngest child. Eight years old. Madness. She had a lovely birthday! It was stressful for me, nothing went right on that day and it was a bit blah! Didn't help that I was coming down with a cold/flu type thing. The main thing is though, she had a fantastic Birthday and really enjoyed her little tea party and seeing friends and family. It was lovely!

I also have had a bit stress in my personal life going on but it's settled down now (again, touch wood!) and I'm relaxing a bit more. Anxiety has struck me a lot this month too but hopefully that's subsided now too. Anxiety is a horrible thing and I find it really hard to control and deal with. I've been reading a few blogs though and I know I'm not alone. It's just hard, you know?

  On a more positive note, we have really enjoyed the Autumn weather. The kids have been loving playing out in the garden and we've been on a couple of lovely walks! I watched a beautiful sunset (more than once!).

We have also enjoyed playing board games - mainly dog bingo, which is an awesome family game to play! That everyone loves. The little's enjoyed doing Autumnal arts & crafts, I may have joined in too, I'm such a big kid, haha.

Overall it hasn't been THAT bad of a month. Just a bit stressful here and there. I really do love this time of year and we have lots to look forward to in October! My eldest will be turning twelve years old! We have half term and Halloween to look forward to and of course the beautiful Autumnal weather.

Since we have moved house and the kids have obviously moved schools, too! They are all doing really well.
Anyway, the kids have only been at there new school since just after Easter. It took a while for Ellie to settle in as she had the same teacher (in her old school) for almost two years and the same group of friends since nursery. You can imagine how hard it must have been for her to settle into her new school! It took her a while to get use to her new school routine and make new friends and everything else that comes with starting a new school but she got there in the end! The boys seemed to adapt and settle in really fast and very well indeed.

They're all doing really well at school, we're waiting for Harry's SAT results. Hes glad they're over with. Ellie's doing super in English and maths, her times tables are coming along nicely. The boys are both doing wonderfully in Maths and English too. The boys hand writing has really improved this term, I think writing with fountain pen has helped them with that. Aww, I remember when I was at school, I use to love writing in fountain pen. =)



I can not believe how well Ellie's reading has come along since April, she has done AMAZING with her reading and it in fact, quite the little book worm (She takes after me, hehe). She's now reading 'hard' books (as she calls them) and she reads them so, so well! She's also been reading some children's books from the kindle which she really enjoys. I love listening to her read, there's something therapeutic about listening to children read, don't you think?

The boys are of course doing well! They love to read, too! Harrys been on about wanting to read 'The Hunger Games' but I still think he's a little young (not quite twelve!) for that. He's currently reading a goosebumps book! Who remember's those?! They were one of my favourite series to read and there are soooo many of them.


Charlie's busy reading some monster story or another, he does like his monster books! He's quite a fast reader, once he gets into a book he enjoys, he seems to really enjoy it.

Overall, the kids are doing wonderfully. We're going to keep reading and practising times tables at home. The kids are super excited for the six weeks holiday which is (very) fast approaching. I am also looking forward to the break from the school routine and enjoying the summer with the little's. Harry is excited about starting high school in September. I still can't quite fathom the fact that my eldest is going to be going to high school! How fast they grow and quick time goes.

Just over three weeks ago we moved house. We've moved to a 'new' (I say 'new' but it's not really new because it's the area I grew up in & the area that all my family live in. So we are familiar with this area) area which means the kids have had to change schools. It's a big deal moving house and area's no matter what age you are but it's even more of a big deal when you're only small. Especially when it comes to starting a new school and making new friends.

The school they attend now is only a small school, there's not many students at all, each year group only has between 7 and 10 children in so the classes are joined. Two year groups in one class. Harry and Charlie are now in the same class, which I think is lovely. They wern't exactly keen on this idea to begin with but now they really like it! They have made SO many friends. They've settled in really fast and even Harry has said to me "It feels like I've been here forever, I love it so much and I fit in really well" I know that Charlie and Ellie feel the same! I've already had parents evening - the boys are both doing amazing! There class teacher (who happens to know my dad? *baffled*) said that he can see they've been brought up really well, they're well mannered, polite and get on with what they're suppose to be doing. He also said he can tell they've had a good education and have been well taught. Which is true, there old school did teach them well and I always made sure they did there homework, reading and what not.

When it comes to Ellie, she HAS settled in but sometimes she becomes a bit tearful before school, when it comes to leaving me (I think it's called separation anxiety). At her old school, she had the same group of friends since nursery/pre-school and the same teacher for nearly two years, I know that plays a huge part in her tearful mornings. It's only to expected. However, she has made lots of new friends and really likes her new class teacher(s). The head teacher makes a really big effort with Ellie to help her settle in. She really enjoys the new routine of her new school, it's a bit different from her old school but she really does like it. I know it's going to take a bit longer for her settle than it has taken the boys, she's a bit younger and it's all very new. I've got parents evening with Ellie's teachers this coming week :) She's been doing a lot of reading and learning her two and five times tables this week, at home.


All three little's have already got certificates for settling in and making friends/being polite etc. I am really, really proud of them. Prouder than ever. They've handled moving house, changing schools and making friends SO well. I knew they would like it here and I knew that they would love the school (and area) perfectly. I am really lucky to have three amazing, healthy, bright, talented children. They're my whole world and more.

(Also, Harry starts high school this year, I applied for him to start the local high school and he got his place there, too! Such a relief!)

Overall, we all really enjoy living here. I am much happier and less anxious! The kids are all happy. We're so fortunate to live in this area. It's truly beautiful! The house is also beautiful! Watch this space for more 'new house' blog posts...

It is SO hard to believe that my children are growing SO fast. Especially my eldest Harry. He's going to be turning twelve years old this year. 12!!! Which means, this coming September, he;s going to be starting high school. That is just crazy! How has time gone so quick? How has he learned so much, so fast? How has it been twelve years since he was born? Wow. Charlie will be in year 6 come September, which is also rather hard to believe, my little 5lb 3oz baby... in year SIX?! WHAT?! And Ellie will be in year three. It feels like she JUST started school! It really does go so, so fast!

2015! They have grown up SO fast!

Part of me really doesn't like the fact they are becoming so independent and growing up so fast, but the other part of me enjoys watching them grow and learn new things. I am nervous and excited at the same time, haha. Bittersweet comes to mind, ha. I am so proud of them all, I really can not tell you how proud of them I am.

Yesterday, my eldest son, Harry turned eleven years old. I still can't quite believe that he's eleven years old. I mean, it only seems like yesterday that he was born. Time flies and kids grow up so, so fast! It's really hard to get my head around the fact that he's eleven.
He's already got a few teenage spots and he has that teenage attitude but he is the most sweetest, kind hearted, sensitive kids you'd ever meet.He's really growing up now and it is SO bittersweet. He is SO independent and he's got a sense for what's fashionable and what it isn't. Hugging him goodbye as he goes into his class is apparently not cool either. Growing up so fast!

Harry got to open some of his presents before school yesterday.


And then after school he got to open the rest of his presents. He also had his best friend over for dinner - takeaway, because that what Harry picked-. The grandparents also visited for a few hours and we all sang happy birthday to Harry and enjoyed some triple chocolate birthday cake (brought from Tesco, I had no time to make one. Boo)



He had a lovely Birthday and got some really amazing presents - football boots, clothes, shoes, chocolates and so on! Along with money and fifa 15 points for the XBOX.
