It's finally half term and it's more than welcome in our house! Having a break from the school routine does everyone the world of good! While the weather was nice we decided to take a trip to the park, it was a gorgeous day, the sun was shinning and it was 7 degrees which is quite shocking considering the day before it was snowing! Having a crisp sunny day reminded us of spring... Which isn't very far away at all and we can not wait.




Charlie took his scooter to the park as there is a ramp there which scooters can be used on! Harry took his bike and Ellie decided she was going to walk with me. The boys also took a football, too! They love playing football and while the weather was nice, they decided to make the most of it.
We had a go on the play area, by 'we' I mean the kids... Although I may or may not have had a go on the swings (Such a good leg workout, haha). We also had a walk around the edge of the woods and the kids had a go on some of the fitness trail equipment, I decided to give that a miss though, haha. And of course, the boys had a good kick around with the football, hehe.
It was quite mild in the sunshine, Harry even got too hot wearing his jacket whilst running around! Spring isn't very far away.. YAY!








We had a really lovely time at the park before heading home for lunch! We are hoping to make another trip to the park and perhaps venture in the woods this week! We hope you're enjoying half term so far, too!

Halloween is one of the kids favourite times of year. They are so excited for Halloween this year and to get them in the mood, Baker Ross sent us some of this spooky 'Day of the Dead Colour-in Mini Gift Bags' to review.


Each kit contains 6 mini paper bags, in 3 assorted designs with 3 assorted handle colours - Green, Pink & Orange. Each bag size is 12cm x 8.5cm.


We used the Fibre tip pens that Baker Ross also sent us to colour the bags in.


"These are going to look amazing" Ellie told me. She was all "I'm going to give my friend some sweets in these for Halloween" Bless her.



Harry and Charlie even joined in with colouring the bags in. Charlie was like "Now these are EPIC!" Charlie being eleven years old and Harry being thirteen, it was lovely to have them join in on being creative! They're SO excited for Halloween.
The bags themselves are made of thick paper and have a ribbon string handle which is stronge and perfect for little hands to hold. 

We carried on colouring in each bag, which is double sided. The fibre tip pens are perfect for this activity! 


The kids could not wait to fill there bags with sweets and goodies. "I'm saving them all for Halloween" they ALL told me. (We'll see, haha). Charlie also noted that they're perfect for 'Trick Or Treating' to gift sweets in. He's right, the year perfect for Halloween!



They're all proud of there "Skull Clown" bags (as Ellie has decided t o call them, haha)
Priced at just £1.49 for a pack of six, they are well worth the money! The Fibre tip pens can be brought separately (£1.98 for a pack of three, each pack contains 10 colours). These little gift bags are perfect for this time of year, any child who loves being creative would enjoy colouring these in.

As most of you already know, we love this time of year and we enjoy making the most of the nice weather before winter hits. The other day after school, we decided to for another Autumnal walk and trip to the play park, which my children always enjoy.


We had a long walk around the big field on the outskirts of the woods. The kids found a huge old tree to climb! They're always fascinated by old tree's because they're so old. This particular tree has been struck by lightening in the past and has actually split in half but it's still living!




The kids had a good climb of the tree and then we headed off for a game of footy. Well, rather, the boys did. Ellie played in the park and I stood and watched the boys play football while Ellie played on the swings!






We had a really lovely afternoon. The weather stayed beautiful and bright! The kids burned off so much energy! We are hoping it'll be nice this weekend so we can go out again :)

I was browsing pinterest and came across animal finger painting so Ellie and I thought we'd give it a try! And as Baker Ross sent us a four part paint pad to review this was the perfect project to test the print pad out! Of course, Ellie couldn't wait to get her hands on it! Quite literally, hehe.


The paint pad includes four colours - red, yellow, green and blue. Each paint section is approx 7.5cm x 7.5cm which is perfect for little hands and fingers. This is ideal for finger painting or even using with stampers! I am also pleased to say the paint is washable. I know this because Ellie decided to wipe her hands all down her jeans. Yes, it did indeed come out in the wash! Hoorah! The four part paint pad is aimed at 3 years +


Anyway, Ellie soon got stuck into this. Her first thoughts were "It's very bright and colourful" Once I'd opened it up she of course had to feel it "It feels so spongy and squidgy" she giggled.
Ellie chose some coloured card to print her animals on.
We used markers to draw on the animals features.. like Whiskers and tales, eyes and ears. Ellie was all "This is such good fun! The paint pad is so perfect for this". She spent ages and ages finger painting her animals.


She printed a bumble bee with her thumb and a turtle with her finger! "I like the spider best of all" she told me "Because he looks very happy and not scary like a real spider" Bless her. I honestly think Ellie could sit there all day printing animals, flowers and creating random art with the paint pad. She sat for a while re-doing her animals and making random patterns. It's such a good idea and so simple and easy to use.
I honestly recommend the four part paint pad. It's not at all messy (less messy than paints), no paint brush is needed and it is so worth £3.50. I also really like the fact that is really, truly is washable paint, too. We've kept the lid on ours so it doesn't dry out because I just know Ellie is going to get a lot of use out of this.
