I went to my mums again the other day and she has such a beautiful garden. I hope that one day my garden will look just as beautiful! Having just moved house though, the garden has to wait for the time being.







This last one is my favourite! I have no idea what it is (if anyone can tell me, please do let me know in the comments), its no technically yellow but it has yellow inside it! Isn't it beautiful?

Anyone who knows me, knows I am a huge reptile lover. Especially lizards! It's a shame we don't have many native reptiles in our country. Do you know, I use to have pet Iguana? (He was four, almost five foot long! But that's a post for another day!) Anyhow.. onto todays post..

Our garden is full of slow worms (Anguis fragilis). One might ask what a slow worm is. Slow worms look like snakes but they are actually a legless lizard! You can identify a slow worm by looking at the eyelids. Slow worms (and lizards) have eyelids but snakes do not. Slow worms feel very smooth, the scales don't over lap!

We are forever spotting them in the garden (along with frogs, too!) and forever rescuing them from cats. Cats find slow worms fascinating because "wiggle" and they try to play with them with there paws. However, when a slow worm feels threatened by a predator it will automize aka drop it's tail/tail falls off. I have come across many that have 'dropped' there tail and I have also come across many that have had puncture wounds from the cats. I'm just going to state the obvious here but slow worms can't defend themselves against cats!! They always recover though, I've never found a dead or really badly injured slow worm! They seem to be quite 'hardy' creatures.

This might be a little bit of a random post. It just feels like ages since I have really updated on us. I really want to get back into blogging about my family and every day life. Sometimes I get so caught up in the every day things that I don't get a chance to write the things I want and should write about. I know I join in the blog hops when I can but it's not the same as blogging about family life - our every day life! 

Things here are going great! The kids and I have settled back into routine after the Easter holidays. We had a fab time over the Easter hols. I was a little worried it'd take forever to get back into routine but it hasn't, thankfully. 
Charlie wants to do an after school club but can't decide which one. He did football last year but I think he wants to try something different, he's leaning towards arts and crafts which is also homework club, too. Harry wants to get back into football club, he's my sporty child, anything to do with sport and he's well away. Bless him. Both the boys are doing great at school. Both have had certificates lately for maths/attendance and what not. Need to laminate, I might do those before I go to bed. I love to keep all there certificates which they have worked really hard to achieve. I'll display them on the fridge for a while and then put them in folders when they receive new ones, hehe. 
Ellie is doing fab, too! She's really settled back into school well after the Easter hols. She LOVES school. She's like a sponge, she absorbs everything and learns SO fast! She's started getting 'homework' from school now, bless her. She gets so excited and feels ever so grown up that she has to do homework. Wish my boys had her enthusiasm, lol. 

We planted some seeds last week! Some are starting to come out! Yay! Although my tomatoes really haven't done much =/ At least the marigolds (Ellies choice!) are growing well (I think the kiddos dropped too many seeds into the pot LOL, that's ok though easy sorted). I'll be re potting them they get a little bigger. The kiddos were chuffed when they saw that they were growing. Yay! Can't wait to plant them in the garden. I'm got some more seeds to plant this week, too! Im sure the kids will love to get digging into those, maybe tomorrow after school? We'll see. 


Lots of things to do before the summer holidays house wise. I really NEED to get this house in order. I've started saving up for my laminate flooring for the front room. I've seen the curtains I would like (that reminds me, must measure the window!) I also need to go thru and sort out some junk in the under the stairs cupboard, it seems to be my new hoarding space. Please tell me I am not the only one who has a 'junk cupboard' lol. I've also decided to put all my DVDs into a folder, the bookcase that holds all my books and DVDs takes up a lot of space and makes the front room look dark. I love my books and DVDs but I just.. I need the space! It's a shame to throw the cases away/put them on freecycle but am all about saving space as this house isn't very big. The books can go on a bookcase in my room (a smaller one) and some can go up in the loft, I can not bare to part with my books under any circumstances, lol.  There's a lot more that needs to be done but honestly, I'll be here all night telling you all.. and I'm sure you're bored already =p 

I've got an Neurologist appointment this week. Guess we'll find out if the pressure/fluid has built up around my brain again. I have been experiencing headaches but they could be (and have been in the past) worse. I really hope and pray I don't have to have another lumbar puncture, again. Not a nice experience at all. 

Anyway I have a few things to do before bed. Oh and I need to check instagram, haha, I am so addicted, lol.

Just a quick post.
First, thanks for all the comments and hello to all my new readers and followers :-) I'm really loving it on this site!!
Secondly, thank goodness it's Friday. Hoping to get my garden done tomorrow ready for Charlie's birthday BBQ next week. I really hope the rain holds off until I've done my garden!!! There's no way I can get a bouncy castle out there with the grass as long as it is now. Tomorrow is my only hope because the guy that's cutting the grass (with his petrol mower) and strimming is at work all week. Pray for sun.. or at least dry weather.
Thirdly, the kitten is looking SO much better today, her eyes are brighter, more clear and she just look more healthier. Plus, she's been running around ALL day playing and chasing everyone's feet/trousers and Ellies dress, bless. <3

So errrrr, my "blog for a whole week" didn't happen. FAIL.
Yesterday I was suppose to have a Neurologist appointment but it has been pout back to NEXT Thursday now.
I've just been SO busy, I've had no time to blog and when I have I've just been way to tired! I have been ever so busy doing my back garden. It was seriously like a jungle, the grass was almost 4ft high. I haven't had a chance to get out there and actually do anything outside (I moved into this house in December 2011) until yesterday because it has been raining, windy or simply to wet! Yesterday though? I did it! I had to use a sickle (like a big hook thing & would be really handy during a zombie apocolypse, hmmm. I can't wait for the next season of walking dead, anyway I'll stick to the gardening for now!) to cut the grass down before I could strim and then mower it with my dads petrol lawn mower. It took HOURS. I didn't stop until gone 9:30pm last night. I wanted to get it ALL done but I ran out of daylight time, there is just a little more to do - Need to use the sickle again to chop the long grass right at the bottom of my garden (My garden is very, very long!) I'm going to do that one day next week (Perhaps Wednesday. Weather permitting of course... this is Gt.Britain, it could rain any time lol). I've done SO well to do what I've done so far. Tomorrow I am going to do some strimming & pull up the rest of the grass that has taken over the path! The previous tenants of this house seriously did not take any care of the garden. It's hard work but will be worth it in the end. I really NEED to have a presentable garden. I really have got my work cut out. I don't mind about not having any flowers or a fancy shaped lawn. Just a flat lawn that the kids can play on, where we can put a paddling pool & have the tent up for the kids to play in & generally just be safe. Without any stinging nettles. The garden was seriously over taken with stinging nettles. IF the garden is done in time for Charlies Birthday (7th July) then I plan on having a BBQ and hire a big bouncy castle, invite a few of his friends & my family etc. It would be amazing to do that! I know Charlie will love it! But it is a big IF because I really do have my work cut out.

I've also put up the new table and chairs for the garden. Can't use the parasol yet as I need to buy a base for that. I also have a big gazebo to go up but I think I'll hold off on that for now. One thing at a time, right?
Also. Need to actually BUY the bbq.. I'm saving like crazy.

So that is what I have been busy doing. I've also done some gardening today, too. Pulled out yet MORE nettles. Will get some more done the weekend, hopefully. :-)
I will share some pictures when it is ALL finished.

the kids are all great! Most of the kids in there classes have chicken pox, thank goodness all three of mine have already had them (Easter 2011). I will update more about the kids in my next post but right now I need to go & bath them, get there PJs on ready for bed in an hour!
