The one where we feed the swans in winter.
00:00This weekend, while the weather was nice and there was a break between rain downpours, we decided to take a little walk down to the river bank and feed the swans and geese. Harry had made plans with a friend so he didn't want to come with us. Charlie, Ellie and I had a great time though! We were only gone for about 45 minutes because it started clouding over again and sure enough, as soon as we stepped through the front door, it poured with rain. We spent the rest of the day playing board games and even Harry joined in when he returned home fifteen minutes after us.
Enjoy the pics.
Oh and we tested out the kids walkie talkies, too, which they got for Christmas. They're such good fun.
Mr swan was chasing us! Such a magnificent creature. |
We eventually managed to convince the swans back in the water by throwing in the food.
We also spotted this little wagtail. So very pretty and cute! Ellie and Charlie hadn't seen one up close before. They were fascinated. Awww.
We had a lovely aftternoon (or half an hour) and I am really starting to look forward to spring because this place will be just beautiful in spring and perhaps we can take a picnic along with us! Although, we'll probably be mobbed by swans, haha.
Have you managed to find a break in the weather and enjoy it lately?

I really enjoyed the little blast of sunshine! I also adore swans although they can be a little aggressive!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I love swans - so long as they're not too close! :) #happydiaries
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as usual and I wish we had balmy weather so I could go picnic in the park and watch the swans go about their daily business. They can be aggressive though sometimes.
ReplyDeleteGlad you managed to get out to take in some fresh air whilst you could!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, I remember feeding swans with my then 3yr old niece and getting chased, she's 12 now and still terrified!
ReplyDeleteWe love feeding the swans. We have loads on our local canal. Looks like you all had a lovely time. Thanks for linking up to #PointShoot x
ReplyDeletewe've been chased a few times too haha, lots of fun #countrykids
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is just lovely to get out the house for a while, especially in winter. A little break in the weather and a trip like this costs next to nothing but makes returning home to board games feel so much more refreshing. Well done on getting outdoors and sounds like tempting the swans back into the water was quite a challenge, they must have been hungry! Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids.
ReplyDeleteThese are great photos. I have to admit to being a bit scared of swans myself! I love your girls faces :) #snapshotsaturday

ReplyDeleteI love feeding the ducks but swans terrify me after they attacked my dog and then my Dad when I was a child. Then you said they chased you!! Your photos are lovely - looks positively spring like!
ReplyDeleteYou have some beautiful pictures here. I love taking pictures of these sorts of things. Thank you for linking up with #anythinggoes linky with Blogging Mummy.
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, the swans look as if they are the only ones totally relaxed in front of the camera. I remember loving feeding the ducks and swans down at Dawlish, but we did get chased on more than one occasion, not because they are nasty creatures, but because they are impatient ones!

Beautiful photos! I love swans, we have a few in our local park (madness - it's right in the middle of a very landlocked town!) and Luke loves to feed them. Sometimes they do get a bit rowdy down there though. Eeek. Ray xx #CountryKids

ReplyDeleteIt's funny isn't it as most people feed the ducks when the weather is nice but it is now they need it. Thank you for joining in #HappyDaysLinky x

ReplyDeleteI find even just getting out of the house for half an hour helps when you've been stuck inside because of bad weather. Lovely photos #CheckOutThatView
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how good for the soul fresh air and wildlife is - even if it is only a short trip during a break from bad weather. Lovely photos. Thanks for linking up to #CheckOutThatView x
