Yellowmoon sent us a leaf stained glass effect decoration kit to review. Ellie couldn't wait to get stuck into these. We really love arts and crafts a lot. Especially Autumnal arts and crafts because it's our favourite time of year.


First of all we took everything out of the packet to see what the kit contained. It contained cardboard shaped leaves, in three assorted designs, some ribbons, some sheets of coloured cellophane.

Ellie enjoyed cutting out the cellophane and sticking it onto the back to leaf! Ellie realised it didn't need to be neat because it was the back of the leaf. So she happily stuck her cellophane shapes onto the back of the leaf, making a pretty pattern.

"There's so many Autumn colours" Ellie told me! She was excited to use purple, purple is her favourite colour!
Ellie took her time making her leaf and creating a pretty effect. She really enjoyed making stained glass leafs.
 Priced at just £3.99 for a pack of 6, they are well worth the money. They kept Ellie entertained for quite some time and are perfect for a rainy day activity! I also feel these would make a lovely gift for any child who loves arts & crafts.

They look so pretty hanging up on the kitchen window. Perfect for our favourite time of year and a lovely Autumn decoration.

I thought I would set myself some goals for this weekend as there's a few bits and bobs that really need to be done! I'll also write this list out in one of my many, many note pads (Yes I am obsessed with notepads). Then I can have the satisfaction of crossing everything off my list and feel accomplished!

1) De-clutter the under stairs cupboard.
2) Blitz the front room (again!) and by blitz I mean pull out sofas and furniture. I did it last week but didn't pull EVERYTHING out.
3) Organise the large kitchen cupboard.
4) Blitz my bedroom.
5) Take the bags of kids clothes to the charity shop (most of it has only been worn a few times. Ellie grows SO fast!)
6) Clean under the fridge freezer and tumble drier.
7) Clear the laundry! (This will be rare!)
8) Organise my DVDs
9) Update my 'To Read' list.
10) Take a long hot bubble bath !

As well as all the usual household chores and whatever else that pops up in between. It's more than doable though and I need to get back into being productive after being ill last week!

I haven't really posted an actual update lately. I did write about the ups and downs of September but not really an in depth update on us. So here goes.

The kids have settled in wonderfully at school and we're enjoying the school routine again. Although the boys aren't overly huge fans of the early mornings but I think they're getting use to them again now.


Harry, my eldest, is loving high school. Although one day last week, I got a phone call from the school to say that he has been sick and needed to come home! He was fine in the morning when he left for school but come lunch time was really quite poorly. He came home and relaxed for the rest of the day, had a nice long nap and woke up feeling much better! Thank goodness. I think the bugs and colds come with this time of year. So far, no one else in the household has caught it (touch wood - not sure if I've had it or not, didn't feel quite right Saturday but wasn't really poorly. Think it may have just been the headache thing.), lets hope it stays that way! I'm looking forward to open evening this week & meeting Harry's tutor.



Charlie and Ellie have both settled into school well, too! It's Charlie's last year of primary school, which is really, really hard to believe. I think Charlie misses Harry sometimes, since Charlie started school (6 years ago!) he has always had Harry by his side but obviously, Harry now goes to high school! Charlie has adapted well though and seems to be enjoying school. Ellie started in year three and seems to really be enjoying it! She's so pleased that er cousin now goes to school (started in reception) and loves to play with her at break and lunch time. Awww. I still can't believe Ellie is eight years old.

 We've enjoyed a few evening walks and time at the park! Which has been nice. I love that we had mild September and start to October. It's been nice! I'm also a big fan of winter though, so I am very much looking forward to that. There's just something about getting cosy inside and watching movies with hot chocolate! The warm coats and winter boots. I LOVE it! :D



Me - I'm doing ok. I've had a headache for the past 4 days, it's not a bad headache, just a dull ache behind my eyes. It comes with having intercranial idiopathic hypertension (Gosh, that is hard to say out loud! And spell!) which I was diagnosed with at the end of 2010! I just get really frustrated when I have things to do and literally can not do them because I have a headache/ache behind my eyes. It has however eased off a bit now so hopefully I'll get some things around the house done this afternoon! I am finally over my cold/flu thing I had going on last week and the week before! Yay.

our kitties are also doing great! Some of you may remember that when Sylvie (silver tabby) first adopted us (yes she chose us!), my other cat Lotti wasn't overly impressed, I am now pleased to say that they're getting a long so much better now! They seem to have accepted each other and usually just avoid each other but its better than the hissing and growling at one another! Who knows maybe one day they'll actually LIKE each other and become friends, hehe. Neither of them are fans of the cooler weather though.


We are all very much looking forward to half term and Halloween and not to mention Harry's Birthday! How is he going to be TWELVE years old?! Madness. We need to figure out some plans for Halloween and I need to get my bake on ;)

ON Sunday evening, after we had our roast dinner, we decided to go for a little walk! The weather was beautiful, it wasn't cold and the sky was ever so pretty. With it being October, these beautiful days are going to be few and far between. So we thought we would make the most of it!


 Harry received an early Birthday present from my mums, A remote control helicopter and Charlie wanted to take his remote control car (which he got for his Birthday back in July) and Sunday afternoon was the perfect opportunity! Ellie didn't want to take anything with her because "I like chasing Harry's helicopter". So that's what she did!


We headed towards the park and woodland which isn't too far from where we live and off we went!
We couldn't believe how high helicopter flew! "This is EPIC" Harry yelled in delight! And it really is epic, for such a small toy, it goes quite fast and very, very high!


Harry let everyone have a little go with his new toy! Which is very sweet of him. Sharing is caring after all. Ellie loved flying it and now she wants one, haha.


Charlie enjoyed playing with his remote control car on the skating ramp as there was no one else on the ramp. It's really nice to see the kids actually playing with there toys. It's quite challenging to get a photo of Charlie because seriously, he does not stay still for a second, haha. Typical boy. Full of energy :-)


We also took a stroll through the woods and pointed out all things Autumnal. We weren't in the woods very long as it was getting dark! I didn't quite realise just how fast it DOES get dark now!


Charlie also tested out his remote control car in the woods because the lights are quite bright on it! "Wow this is great" Charlie told us.


We had a really fun evening! Hopefully we'll have a few more nice evenings before the winter kicks in.

Cathy glass has wrote many books, she has been a foster carer to many, many years and fostered over 150 children. She is an amazing woman and I wish there was more people in the world like her! Anyway, this is the story of a young girl called Joss. She has been through so very much in her life already. She finds her father dead, he comitted suicide when she was nine years old and Joss and her mother discover him. Which I can't even imagine what that must have been like, especially for a nine year old child. Joss' mum remarries, Joss doesn't like her new step dad and ends up in Cathy's care. There's a twist to this story that I didn't see coming and was shocked! I may have had a bit of a lump in my throat and tear in my eye if I'm honest. It is a very sad story but it has a much happier ending.
Another brilliantly written book from Cathy and my heart goes out to Joss and her family.
Five stars from me.
