As most of you already know, we love this time of year and we enjoy making the most of the nice weather before winter hits. The other day after school, we decided to for another Autumnal walk and trip to the play park, which my children always enjoy.


We had a long walk around the big field on the outskirts of the woods. The kids found a huge old tree to climb! They're always fascinated by old tree's because they're so old. This particular tree has been struck by lightening in the past and has actually split in half but it's still living!




The kids had a good climb of the tree and then we headed off for a game of footy. Well, rather, the boys did. Ellie played in the park and I stood and watched the boys play football while Ellie played on the swings!






We had a really lovely afternoon. The weather stayed beautiful and bright! The kids burned off so much energy! We are hoping it'll be nice this weekend so we can go out again :)

All day Thursday it was so hot! After school the little's wanted to go to the park but we decided it was just too hot for that. So after dinner we went for a walk in the woods instead! The weather had cooled down a bit and it was a gorgeous evening. A stroll through the woods is exactly what we needed.We're very luck to live in such a beautiful area with fields and woodland and lots of a public footpaths! So off we went to explore some more!


We walked past the corn field at hte back of our house, sticking to the public footpath. "It's such good fun living in the countryside" Ellie told me. I'm glad the kids love living in the countryside because I am a country gal! I didn't like living in a big town with hoards of people and nowhere much to walk with non beautiful views. The boys seem to enjoy living here, too! I'm sure that's because there is more space for them to burn off there energy, bless 'em.

 The boys also wanted to take a football with them! They do love there football and having a kick about.. Typical boys! Haha.


The kids also found a tree to climb on. I remember when I was young and I use to climb trees in this woodland too! I am so pleased my children get to have that childhood fun that I had.




We also knew there was a rope swing in the woods so we decided to go and have some fun on that. I may or may not have had a little go, haha. So many childhood memories! And now I'm making similar childhood memories for my children to look back on.




After a little while we decided to leave and go home because we were all worn out! We had a wonderful evening! It was a beautiful evening walk and we can;t wait to do it again sometime. We're going to explore the other side of the woods next time! :)

Ellie wanted to play with her umbrella in the back garden. Sunday was the perfect day for this because it was raining lightly.

So Ellie put on her old clothes and was all "It's UMBRELLA weather, can I play outside?"
I of course had to snap a few pics!



 "I wonder if I can fly away like Mary poppins, that would be super duper cool" Ellie told me.


It started to rain a bit heavier so we folded the umbrella down and went back inside. Although, Ellie would have loved to played in the pouring down rain but it's back to school this week and really, we don't need any colds! Also, I might add the wind was picking up and Ellie hates the wind. So back inside we came to watch a Disney movie.


 "Maybe later we can find some puddles to splash in" Ellie said. So perhaps later, when the wind dies down, we'll venture out and find some puddles, hehe.

What makes me smile this week..

1) The weather - It has been truly beautiful weather, a little hot at times but it's nice to see the sun and actually have a decent summer! I have a lovely tan (not that I've been trying to get a tan mind). The little's have been enjoying the weather, too.
The thunderstorms were rather amazing! Lots of lightening forks and funky coloured skies. I didn't manage to get a photo of the lightening but I did manage to get this photo of the sunset and thunderstorm both at the same time. It was sunny, thundering and lightening while the sun was setting, it was a bit weird.



2) It's officially the summer holidays! It's a very welcomed break from the school routine. It's lovely spending extra time with the kids and what not. We're just chilling out this week, no plans. Just chillaxing and enjoying the weather in the garden.


3) Last weekend we went to the summer fete. It was such great fun! The kids had a blast on the bouncy castles (thank goodness for wrist bands & unlimited time on the bouncy castles and activities). They loved riding on the donkey's. :)

Here are my reasons to be happy this week:

1) The weather - the weather has been amazing! It's really sunny and hot. To be honest, it's a bit too hot today but that's ok. I have an awesome tan! My cat has also been enjoying sunbathing in the sun and the kids have had fun playing outside in the sunshine and making the most of the weather. Bless 'em.

2) The little's had there sports days today and yesterday! I'm so proud of them all, they all did there absolute best. They all won at least one race each. They cheered there team mates on, too. Aww, so proud.

3) I got to spend some time with my family the other day. It was so nice to see them all, I hadn't seen my little sister for a while. She fell in love with my ombre hair, lol! She had to style it. She is SO good with hair and doing hair styles. She should totally work in a salon. I love having my hair done, I'm definitely going to let my sister style my hair more often - it's great.


 4) Wildlife - I love all animals, nature and wildlife. Last night we spotted a hedgehog in the garden! I haven't seen a hedgehog for a longgg time. We use to have them in our garden all the time in our old house, so it was lovely to spot one last night. It was quite a large hedgehog and was a bit camera shy (don't think it liked the flash) so I took a quick pic, fed him some food and then left him to it, aww. The food was gone this morning...
(Hedgehogs are one of my favourite animal)

Gosh, isn't it warm?! It's nice to see the sun though. Here are my reasons to be cheerful and thankful this week.

1) I am having my hair done next week, it needs thinning out so bad. In this heat, it is not ideal to have long, thick, curly hair. I am really looking forward to having my hair done and sorted out for the summer! I haven't had my hair thinned out for a lonnnng time (over a year and a half!) so it needs it badly. I can't wait, hehe.

2) I'm thankful the weather has been really lovely and sunny lately. The sun really does cheer me up. I have a slight tan already just from walking to the shops and school. I'm thankful I tan easy. It's been ever so warm and difficult to sleep at night but there's not a lot that can be done about that, lol.

3) I scolded my hand on Sunday (this isn't a reason to be cheerful or thankful) but it's finally starting to heal and doesn't hurt so much now. Hopefully it'll heal 100% soon, I'm just glad it's not as bad as it was... that burning and stinging pain was something I'd never felt before, it was not at all nice. I'm staying well away from hot cooking oil from now on!!

4) I took Ellie to the park last weekend, it was such a lovely day, way too nice to stay indoors. There was hardly anyone else at the park, it was quiet and peaceful. Ellie and I had a great time, she even got me on the see saw, omdz, did my legs ache the next day LOL, so unfit, haha. It really cheered us up though - getting out of the house :)

I did something incredibly stupid today. I scolded my hand with boiling hot cooking oil. How it happened? I've no idea, it was just one of those things, it happened so fast! So, I am typing this with my left hand (I'm right handed). I am seriously so clumsy. I kept my hand in freezing cold ice water for a couple of hours and have a wet, cold bandage on it now. I do have burn cream but it doesn't appear to be helping much. I'll get it checked by the nurse tomorrow if needed. We'll see.
Having said the above, if I don't blog often this week -or however long-, you know why - it's difficult to type one handed with my left hand. I do have a couple of posts scheduled though. 
 Honestly, I could kick myself for being so careless and clumsy. I'm really mad at myself about it! It's going to be challenging doing every day things for a while, I should imagine. (It's taken my half an hour to just type the above. I'd usually have it typed within a minute or two. So frustrating!)

My fingers have swelled up :(

This weekend has been quiet. I haven't really done very much. I took Ellie to the park today though as it was such a beautiful day today. It's been really, really warm and sunny! Blue skies and sunshine, just perfect. The boys had a nice time at there dads and are now sitting at the dinner table doing there homework. Bed time soon!


I think I'm gonna have an early night tonight and try and sleep through this horrible stinging/burning pain in my hand.

Phew! It's almost Easter. We are really looking forward to Easter in this house.

Here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Easter - Obviously! Haha. We've got an Easter egg hunt planned, the kids are ever so excited about it! I am lucky that we have a huge back garden to do the Easter egg hunt in. I've also got a couple of games planned.. egg and spoon race, who can throw the ball the furthest and so on. It'll be great fun.

2) The weather - I seriously can't believe how warm it's been. Did you know this time last year it was so cold it was almost snowing! This year it's the opposite (thank goodness) - so mild and warm. Yay! It makes all the difference when it's sunny. The kids can play outside and enjoy the sunshine and it puts me in a much brighter mood!We've been to the park this week and had a couple of lovely walks!

3) The weekend - I am really looking forward to the weekend! My brother, SIL and niece are visiting us again this weekend, I am really looking forward to it. :)

The other day we went for a nice walk, it was so sunny and bright, it was also nice and mild, too! I really love Spring!

We spotted lots of flowers and blossom. Ellie really noticed the different, new leaves and buds appearing on trees but I think the blossom was Ellie's favourite!

My personal favourite is the tulips, I really love them! They are so beautiful and always make me smile!

Harry was the first one to enter the meadow, we haven't been there for a few weeks because it's been quite muddy. (Although I did go on my own a couple of weeks ago, it's s short cut I often take). Harry couldn't believe the difference "Wow, look it's all green, there's no mud!" And Ellie, who LOVES the willow tree, was like "Oh my goodness it's all green again!!!" We spent quite a bit of time last year playing under the willow tree! There's something a little bit magical about Willow trees, especially to the kids, hehe.

The last couple of days have been a little unpredictable weather wise, hopefully we can get out in the sunshine again soon!

It's not been a bad week this week (touch wood). It's gone quite fast to be honest. So here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Easter - The kids break up for school tomorrow! It'll be a well needed rest. A break from doing school uniforms, packed lunches and the rushing around. More importantly though, I get to spend some much needed time with the kids without having to rush around and what not. I'm not sure what we're going to do over the Easter holidays but I'm sure it'll be fun! A trip to the beach, perhaps? As long as it's not raining.
2) Park - The other day after school, we went to the park after school! It was really warm. I was wearing jeans and way far too hot! I hope that's a sign that summer is just around the corner. The kids had a great time at the park, they saw some of there school friends there, too! :) It really does make all the difference to get out of the house!
3) I'm doing good on this whole 'Gluten' free thing. My belly isn't as bloated and I feel much, much better! It sucks that I can't have foods I'd usually eat but I am really just overall feeling much healthier.
4) Mothers day - I had a lovely mothers day! I got a lovely surprise from moonpig, a nice bunch of pretty flowers, a lovely personalised card, some sweets and some pampering goodies from the kids! Harry also had brought me a few little bits, a very sweet little teddy & some other little bits and a nice card! I was totally spoiled! Charlie & Ellie got me something, too! Ellie decorated a flower pot at school and planted a flower inside it for me. Awww ♥ I feel so lucky & blessed.

I haven't done reasons to be cheerful for a while now and I really miss it! Sometimes I NEED to remind myself of reasons to be cheerful and today is one of those times. I've had a really bad week this week and thought I'd remind myself of all the reasons to be cheerful by joining in this lovely linky which is hosted by Lakes single mum.

Beautiful evening sky!

1. It's the first day of spring, finally! Yay! You have no idea how glad I am that it is finally spring. The sun is shining today and the weather is quite mild. I can't wait to get outside more with the kids, go on picnics and achieve some of the things on our spring bucket list! Such fun, hehe. 
2. Ellie has been feeling under the weather but seems a little bit better today, thank goodness. She's had a high temperature for two days but it seems to be going down now, thank goodness. Hopefully she'll feel 100% herself, soon. So my second reason to be cheerful is that Ellie is getting better! *knocks on wood* 
3. My third reason to be cheerful is that I am going to sort the boys room out today! I finally have there new bunk beds. Today's task is taking the old ones down and putting the new ones up. At last! It's taken a while to save for but so worth it. Wish me luck, I'm doing it alone :/ It's gonna look a lot better in there room with new bunk beds and a nice new canvas wardrobe. 
4. I'm glad tomorrow is Friday! I am looking forward to nice relaxing weekend (hopefully headache free). Perhaps even a lie in on Sunday! We shall see.
