Mungo Monkey Has a Birthday Party {Kids Book Review}
22:01Mungo Monkey Has a Birthday Party is a beautifully illustrated children's book illustrated by Lydia Monk. It's the first in the series of highly collectable lift-the-flap which focuses on first experiences.
"It's Mungo Monkey's birthday party and
he can't sleep because he's so excited!
What will he wear? Who will he invite? What games will they play? Join in the fun by lifting the flaps and finding out what happens next.
Mungo Monkey is a new picture book pre-school series focusing
on first experiences by Lydia Monks, the award-winning illustrator
of Julia Donaldson's What the Ladybird Heard."
Ellie (aged 6) could not wait to read this book! She can even read some of it herself, which I think is rather impressive.
The story itself is all about Mungo's birthday and how excited Mungo is about the birthday party! It's a very simple, cute story. Ellie and I read the whole story together, she enjoyed reading some of the words herself. We found parts of this story quite humorous, Ellie giggled when Mungo woke up early and gave mum and dad a fright.
The book is beautifully illustrated. It's bright, colourful and very eye catching. We really loved the fact that there's lots of lift up flaps which kept Ellie interested in the book! I really like it because there is so much for little ones to join in with.
"The pictures are so bright" Ellie said.. "I really love all the flaps that lift up and the animals are really cute, too" Ellie declared. She thoroughly enjoyed this book and I can see it becoming a favourite of hers.
She loved the fact that it has flaps to lift up! There's so much to discover. "
We would recommend this book!
