Penpal by Dathan Auerbach book review

"Penpal began as a series of short and interconnected stories posted on an online horror forum. Before long, it was adapted into illustrations, audio recordings, and short films; and that was before it was revised and expanded into a novel!

How much do you remember about your childhood?

In Penpal, a man investigates the seemingly unrelated bizarre, tragic, and horrific occurrences of his childhood in an attempt to finally understand them. Beginning with only fragments of his earliest years, you'll follow the narrator as he discovers that these strange and horrible events are actually part of a single terrifying story that has shaped the entirety of his life and the lives of those around him. If you've ever stayed in the woods just a little too long after dark, if you've ever had the feeling that someone or something was trying to hurt you, if you remember the first friend you ever made and how strong that bond was, then Penpal is a story that you won't soon forget, despite how you might try."

This book popped up in a couple of places so I thought I would give it a read and my goodness, I am glad I did. It's one of the best books I have EVER read. Considering it started off from a random guy on Reddit, it's very, very good. He eventually published this amazingly, eerie, spooky book 'Penpal'.
Penpal follows the life of a boy who likes adventures. He shares memories and tells us his eerie stories! One night when he was very young, he went to bed and then woke up in the woods... Lots of mysterious things happen. Him and his friend Josh like to explore the woods and Dathan shares there chilling experiences with us. The book is beautifully written, all the small details, or what we think are small details are all very important. The way the stories told, the style of the book and writing is very unique in my opinion and I have never read anything quite like this book.

Honestly, this book is SO hard to review without giving away spoilers... It's just.. I can't put into words how good this book is. The eeriness and creepiness that surrounds this book reminds me a little of the Netflix T.V series 'Stranger Things'. The story is completely different and it's very hard to explain. It's spooky, eerie and chilling. A perfect read for October or just anytime. I highly recommend that EVERYONE reads this book.
After I read the book, I learned it was fiction (which I am really quite glad about because if it was real... NO WAY!). This book gave me chills! I found is very hard to put down and I whizzed through this book like I have never read before! Amazing. I rate this book five stars and it deserves so much more. I hope that this book makes it huge one day!
If you read one book, please let it be this one.

Do you have any recommendation for books to read in October/for Halloween?
