A perfect Autumnal walk.

17:49

I think everyone who has read my blog for a while will know that Autumn is my favourite time of year! I just love it. I wrote about reasons why I love Autumn in another blog post.

Today we decided we were going to go for an Autumnal walk through the woods. The woods is about a 5 minute (or less!) walk from our house so it's really convenient and an absolutely beautiful place! the kids just love climbing the trees (such a shame about the graffiti though!), we also came across a couple of rop swings which someone has tied to the trees! I remember when I was a kid and playing in these same woods. It's truly amazing to create new memories with my own children!

It wasn't really cold enough for a coat but light jackets and woolly jumpers were needed as it was quite chilly!

The sun actually made an appearance and made the woodland look so pretty! Ellie was all "It's so beautiful. I wish the weather was like this ALLLLL the time!" Bless her.

This tree is very, very old. One of the oldest tree's in Europe I do believe. It's absolutely beautiful, even though it's been struck by lightening more than a few times and has a whole history which is a blog post in itself! (I'll write about it one day). The kids love to climb it and it's a favourite with all the locals. My brothers, sisters and myself use to climb this tree when we were children! It hasn't changed a bit.

There's also some kind of mushroom/fungi growing around the bottom of the tree. We were careful not to touch it.

We also spotted lots of signs of Autumn. Mushrooms, toadstools and lots of leaves and acorns

We had a lovely evening walk! I can't wait to go again. Maybe next time we'll find some leaves and leaf piles to jump in and throw around as that's also great fun!

What's your favourite thing about Autumn?

  40. What an amazing place to go for a walk. Looks like a lovely autumnal day. I still can't get used to having no seasons here in San Francisco. I do miss those seasons sometimes, especially autumn days and that build up to Christmas. Lovely photos of your children. x

  41. I do love a good autumn walk. How wonderful to have this just 5 minutes from home and those tree swings are always fun. We have one at the end of one of our farm woodland walks and the kids adore it, somehow it is more fun than the swings in the play areas! I hope you have many more autumn woodland walks like this.

It really does look like it must have its own amazing story and think of what it has lived through! Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather :) x

It is lovely being able to enjoy places with your children that you enjoyed as a child. I also have to say that your children have the most incredible eyes.
