A beautiful walk.

On Friday, it was the start of half term for the youngest two, they had an inset day. Unfortunately, Harry had to go to school as he did not have an inset day but it is now officially half term for all three. Me and the two youngest made the most of the weather as it was warm and sunny! Which has been rare lately. We went for a lovely walk in the woods which is one of our favourites places! We are very lucky indeed, to have a lovely woodland within walking distance which also has a really cool park too!
We had a lovely walk through the woods and came across a couple of rope swings that somebody had made, the kids had a quick swing on them! Charlie was all "Why can't i climb up and sit on it properly" And I was like "Because it isn't safe!" It was way too high for him. Charlie has NO FEAR. So we decided to find some trees to climb instead.
This is a very old tree, I use to climb it when I was a child and have many memories of picnics by this tree... And my brother getting stung by a wasp when he was little. It's so nice to create memories in the same places that I grew up and the kids seem to enjoy listening to my stories.
Charlie of course had to climb the tree!
I love the above up. It really sums Charlie up... Such a climber (little monkey!) and so cheeky, hehe.
We stopped for a little rest and a drink and then headed down to the pond in the woods! It's truly beautiful. We even saw a fish eating the flies on the top of the water. I wish I had of got a photo. We had a chat about fish and what they eat etc. The kids love learning about nature and wildlife.
Charlie found a dock leaf bigger than his head! Which he was amused by (It was just laying on the ground!)
Before we headed home, we found a couple more and a huge dirt mound to climb. And finished our trip with a go on the swings before heading home for a late lunch.
We missed Harry, it wasn't the same without him but we have a whole week now, I'm sure we'll be spending plenty of time at the park and what not.
I hope the weather stays nice, we have lots of plans for half term! :)

ReplyDeleteIt's fab that you had a great time exploring the forest with these two, I remember when my eldest moved off into secondary school and wasn't with us on inset days very difficult to get your head round. It's great to see the other to playing together and enjoying the sunshine as the three of you though, I'm sure they told Harry all about it when he got back from school.
